FRONT WALK & COURTYARD
After several meetings with this Hunterdon County client to discuss their walkway replacement, we decided the key was to combine the new limestone pavers they loved with irregular flagstone to break up the monotony of the long walkway design. We created a small courtyard and limestone patio at the entrance surrounded by a fieldstone wall, a focal space as you enter. Shrub and perennial planting surround the walkway and patio to soften the lines and give year round interest, complete with low voltage landscape lighting. Our architectural landscape plans came to life.
STREAMSIDE RETREAT IN DOYLESTOWN
"Nate is a delight to work with. I don't think there's anything he doesn't know about plants-and weeds! He transformed our property into a storybook landscape. Wish I could take you all on a garden tour!" - Nancy
BACKYARD OASIS IN BUCKS COUNTY
Here is a Doylestown backyard that had never been given attention before. We removed an old rotting deck and added a pea gravel patio with antique garden furniture. Shade perennials and native plants surround you and light filters through the old Japanese fantail willow throughout the day. It's a tranquil vibe. Landscape lighting around the willow and tree plantings extend that tranquility into the night.
SMALL SPACE DESIGN IN MONTCO
One of the first questions the owner of this Lower Gwynedd home asked us was, "Is this space too small to work with?". Our answer? Of course not! Sweetbay magnolia trees and raised planters herbs and native plants now offer enough privacy for an intimate seating nook, surrounded by horticultural details and garden antiques.
NEW HOPE BACKYARD
"Five Senses designed a flagstone patio and gardens for our backyard. The design included drawings which were very helpful finalizing the patio and gardens. The project was completed within the timeframe quoted, and the quality was above expectations." -Clay
MONTGOMERY COUNTY TOWNHOUSE GARDEN
"Working within a very small space Nate integrated a sculptural stone seating area, a native woodland garden, and a dramatic container grouping that all created great curb appeal. The ideas were thoughtful, imaginative and the plantings a far cry from the typical generic plant list." - Melinda
HILLSIDE LIVING IN BRYN MAWR
"The Five Senses Team took a weed-infested hillside and created a stone wall and patio we use every day. They chose the perfect plants and flowers so we can enjoy our new outdoor space year-round. Nate and the landscape design team at Five Senses listened to everything we wanted in a new garden. They worked our personal taste and their knowledge of native plants to create the perfect garden oasis." -Duncan
UPPER BUCKS PATIO & GARDEN
Bold, colorful, naturalistic were the words when we sat down with the client to put together an architectural design from scratch. They wanted a space that reflected their style. Here, a moss-infused flagstone patio surrounded by native plants, privacy screening and a garden path gives them just that, while providing a private retreat.
CONTEMPORARY DESIGN IN PHILADELPHIA'S MAIN LINE
Small space, big feel. This bluestone patio is designed on two levels with a linear emphasis. It gradually blends with lawn as the spaces are meant to feel open, as one. A fireplace wrapped with copper and fieldstone veneer offers a center for gathering with family and friends. The borders transition into the surrounding wooded border with boulder walls, native plant design, permaculture and edible plantings.
